Ronald Porter Obituary

Ronald A. Porter, 74, of Muscatine, passed away on Thursday, April 18, 2024 at his home.  Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 21, 2024 at Snyder & Hollenbaugh Funeral & Cremation Services of Muscatine.  Memorial Services for Ron will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, April 22, 2024 at the funeral home.  Following the services, a time of food and fellowship will be held in the Snyder & Hollenbaugh Community Room.  Graveside Services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, April 22, 2024 in Columbus City Cemetery with Military Honors.  Memorials for Ron may be directed to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, Muscatine Humane Society or Unity Point Hospice.  Sympathy notes may be left for the family at www.sandhfuneralservice.com.

Ronald Allison Porter was born on November 29, 1949 in Muscatine, Iowa, the son of John and Beverly Yvonne (Reed) Porter.  Ron was a 1968 graduate of Columbus Junction High School.  On May 5, 1973, Ron was united in marriage to Rita Helen Sellers at the Columbus Junction Methodist Church.   After high school he went to work for the Rock Island Railroad.  He also served his country in the US Marine Corps during Vietnam from 1969-1972.   Ron later went to work as a maintenance specialist for Natural Gas Pipeline in Columbus Junction.  He was a member of the Shriners, Eagles Lodge, American Legion and the United Presbyterian Church in Columbus Junction.  Ron enjoyed spending time his dog Tony, watching NASCAR races, mowing the lawn and watching his grandsons play sports. 

Ron will be deeply missed by his wife, Rita of Muscatine; son, Justin (Krista) Porter of Lisbon; two grandsons, Kaden and Cole Porter; half-sister, Regina (Bob) Radley and half-brother, Rick (Becky) Peters

Ron was preceded in death by his parents and an aunt, Roberta (Ted)  Garrett.
