Kenneth TeStrake Obituary

Kenneth TeStrake, age 97, passed away peacefully at his home in April 23, 2024.  As per Kenneth’s wishes, a private service for family will be held with his grandsons as pallbearers and honorary pallbearers, Gary McColloch and Tim Zeman carrying him to his resting place in Muscatine Memorial Park Cemetery.

Kenneth was born on March 18, 1927, the son of John William and Charlotta (Sywassink).  Kenneth lived his entire life at the farm in Sweetland Township.

After serving two years in the Army, stationed in Alaska, he returned home and married Mildred Joanne Messenger on September 18, 1954.  He then returned to Alaska to finish his remaining tour of duty which ended in May of 1955.

Kenneth was a farmer first and foremost, but also worked for the Muscatine Community Schools as a bus driver for 30 years.  Kenneth was a member of Sweetland United Methodist Church.

Kenneth is survived by his wife of 69 years and 3 children, Sherry Spitznogle (Gary) of Wapello, Julie Zeman (Tim) of Muscatine and Kevin TeStrake (Brenda) of Muscatine; 8 grandchildren, Adam, Lindsey, Matt, Connor, Kayla, Cameron, Creed and Jennifer and 8 great grandchildren, Bennett, Cale, Wyatt, Garrett, Kaden, Hudson, Teddy and Mason.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Harold, Cliff, Myrtle, Milly, Harriet, Gertrude and Louise.
